 When it comes to making your home elegant and peaceful no colour works better than white. White reflects light and makes any room appear twice as large and airy. White can give a classic look as well as a contemporary one. Having a white room doesn't mean having a stark and clinical space. When used correctly white can really bring about an airy and open feel to your space. The thing with white is that some people like it and some people don't. Some people find it too cold or icy. However I think its easy to begin with white and introduce bits of colour (bold or subtle) to create any room you may like. 

And there are many shades of white. From eggshell to chalky, to vanilla, creamy, the list is endless. The difference in shades is their warm or cool undertones. The choice of tone is what gives the room either a fresh or warm look. 

 

Adding accent colours like soft yellows, taupe or pale green could give the room a fresh look. Whereas adding accent colours like deep green, orange or red gives it a contemporary bold feel. Here's a little white on white decor mood board to have as a base for your scheme.

So, whatever you make of it, white is a fresh start to your colour scheme. If you like it, go for it. If you don't, 'Hey, it's not everyone's cup of tea', so throw in some bright bold throw pillows or artwork. White is classic, clean and fresh and totally worth a try. What are you waiting for?
