Surprises around the corner!

With the new year comes a reflection of the past present and future. When looking at the past, it is very easy to dwell on the 'what if's and 'should I have's. More often than not, everyone leaps into the new year with thoughts or wishes of what they might have done better, or hadn't done yet. I myself wish I would have  posted more blogs over the past year. However, no use crying over spilt milk... pick up the pieces, clean up the mess and get new milk. And so I shall begin my year, picking up the pieces of my writing, clear up my head and get a fresh perspective and direction.

I begin by posting a pleasant memory that I was lucky enough to capture due to its temporary nature, an art installation on a street in Nairobi. What was so pleasant about it, is that its quite rare to see public art installations in Nairobi. Sculptures in Nairobi are more or less conventional and almost always political figures or symbols displayed in the major junctions of the city. I have no idea what this particular installation was for or who its intended audience was, but it was quite a pleasant surprise to come upon it.

Perhaps it is a sign that the art installation world is gaining a foothold in this African metropolis. I can only hope that the next time I walk around the corner of a road in Nairobi, I am met with as much of a burst of creativity and positivity as this installation did.

Seen any new creative, surprising and positive installations around your corner lately?
